CHALLENGE

As the primary prisoner and remand transportation for correctional services in Victoria Australia, G4S identified COVID-19 exposure as a considerable risk to their staff and prisoners during transit. 

Ongoing COVIDsafe cleaning requirements and compliance like repeated manual sanitising with ammonia-based products was having a negative impact on daily operations, along with their staff health and morale.


SOLUTION

Following a detailed analysis and expert consultation of G4S’s needs and challenges, Armaguard presented the solution of the automatic COVID-19 contamination mitigation system.

The proposed solution was a customised ReSPRTECH HVAC system which would be installed across the G4S prisoner transport fleet, to reduce the impact on time, staff and resources.

Highly effective in killing COVID-19 and other microbial populations in the air and on surfaces, along with substantially reducing odours and visible air smoke, ReSPRTECH HVAC systems were easily retrofitted into the existing air-conditioning systems of the G4S prisoner transportation vans.

Utilising NCC Technology™, consisting of an ultraviolet light and a photocatalyst lens which creates an enhanced catalytic oxidation process containing various friendly oxidants, ReSPRTECH works more effectively than traditional filters to clean air and surfaces automatically.  By generating natural oxidants such as dry hydrogen peroxide from the ambient humidity, NCC Technology works to purify and decontaminate small gas particles (smaller than 0.3 micrometers) which were previously unable to be controlled by market ready systems such as HEPA filters. The technology is now used to make buildings healthier, by removing microorganisms from air and surfaces in clinical settings, in high traffic areas, in areas where people congregate, and in food preparation areas.

The capabilities of ReSPRTECH and NCC Technology™ are so advanced that no ozone or formaldehyde is used or produced in their operation and because there are no moving parts or fans, installation is straightforward and the units can be controlled remotely via Wi-Fi.


RESULTS

In managing the successful deployment of ReSPRTECH HVAC in-duct purification system units across the G4S Victorian prisoner transportation fleet, Armaguard has:

  • confirmed G4S met all government mandated COVIDsafe requirements
  • ensured uninterrupted service operations and vehicle availability for G4S Victorian prisoner transportation fleet
  • significantly reduced the COVID-19 exposure risk for G4S staff and prisoners
  • improved operations, time and money for G4S by eliminating repeated manual daily COVIDsafe cleaning with ammonia-based products
  • boosted staff morale by taking them on the installation journey and showcasing how the technology works and why it decreases the potential for viral transmission


THE PRODUCT
